Senior Test Engineer
As a Senior Test Engineer, you have two focus areas. First, together with the enabling team, you set up the automated test pipeline: the CI/CD pipeline with automated quality gates that provides faster and continuous feedback on quality (shift-left, built-in quality). Secondly, you are an enabler: you help the test engineers in the DevOps teams increase their test maturity through a 'do it yourself, show how, do it together' approach. You possess broad knowledge and expertise and contribute to everything from refining requirements and user stories to dynamic testing, with a clear emphasis on test automation. The division of dynamic testing is as follows: the development engineers handle static code analysis and unit tests, while you, as a test engineer, take on system (API and/or GUI), system integration (API & GUI), and end-to-end chain testing, both automated and, where necessary, manually for validation.
You work closely with test engineers, development engineers, information analysts, product owners, test leads, and architects to ensure testable user stories and robust acceptance criteria.
Your duties include, among others:
* Designing, implementing, maintaining, and executing automated regression test sets in Tosca (API and GUI) for system, system integration, and chain testing.
* Co-establishing and improving the CI/CD pipeline and the automated quality gates (including automated tests).
* Building reusable, maintainable, and scalable test cases, and translating business processes and chain logic into effective automated tests.
* Applying test specification and test design techniques (such as equivalence classes, boundary value analysis, decision tables, process cycle testing, etc.) to derive logical test cases and develop them into physical test cases.
* Setting up and executing risk analyses (risk-based testing) and determining test coverage and test intensity based on these.
* Setting up Test Data Management and service virtualization (mocking and stubbing) so that automated tests can run reliably, representatively, and independently.
* Contributing to the continuous reliability of the chain regarding functionality, security, and performance.
* Guiding the test engineers in the DevOps teams and helping them grow in test maturity.
* Recording, analyzing, and following up on findings and defects, including root cause analysis.
* Strengthening test strategy, test coverage, and testability, and applying Definition of Ready and Definition of Done.
What you bring
You are an experienced, independent test professional with a proven hands-on track record in test automation. You have independently executed multiple projects, rather than supervising from the sidelines. You quickly grasp complex processes and applications, think in terms of risks, chains, and data quality, and are strong at translating functional and technical requirements into logical and physical test cases using the appropriate test specification techniques. You are critical of quality but pragmatic enough to keep speed and reliability in balance. You enjoy helping others improve.
Strict requirements (applying without these is pointless):
* Bachelor's or Master's degree working and thinking level, preferably in IT or a related field.
* Demonstrable, recent hands-on experience as an executing test (automation) engineer in multiple Tosca projects. Coordination or guidance from the sidelines is not what we are looking for.
* ISTQB or TMAP certification (or iSQI CAT or a comparable testing basis).
* Tosca certification AS1, AS2, and TDS1, demonstrable and valid at the start.
* Experience automating system, integration, and end-to-end tests in Tosca (API & GUI).
* Demonstrable experience applying test design and test specification techniques and drafting logical and physical test cases.
* Demonstrable experience coaching or enabling test engineers and teams.
* Experience with risk-based testing and translating risks into test coverage.
* Experience with Test Data Management, test environments, and improving testability within teams.
Excellent communication skills in Dutch, both spoken and written.
Preferred qualifications (distinguishing factor, not grounds for rejection):
* Experience with service virtualization (mocking/stubbing).
* Experience with setting up CI/CD pipelines and automated quality gates.
* Experience in SAP, Mendix, Flowable, or complex chain environments.
* Experience with Scrum, DevOps, and preferably a SAFe environment.
* Experience with Jira, TesterSuite, or similar test management tools.
* Experience with Robot Framework.
