Data Advisor

About the role

Our client is a key organisation within the European energy sector, currently strengthening its data-driven approach and making data a central part of its strategy and business operations.

To support this ambition, the organisation is looking for a Data Advisor to help business teams make better use of data as an enabler for strategic objectives, innovation, transformation and regulatory compliance.

The role focuses on bridging the gap between Business and Data. Working alongside subject matter experts, you will help establish strong foundations for data management, particularly around metadata, responsibilities and data discoverability, enabling the organisation to make better use of its Data Platform.

As part of a product-oriented team, you will contribute to improving data management practices across the organisation, helping different teams work together and ensuring that data initiatives deliver tangible business value.

Role description
As a Data Advisor, you will work closely with business stakeholders, Data Owners, Data Stewards and IT teams to understand business needs and translate them into effective data management practices.
You will contribute to the continuous improvement of the organisation's Data Governance methodology by providing feedback from practical experience. Your focus will be on facilitating collaboration, advising stakeholders, providing training and coaching, and ensuring a consistent approach to data management across different departments.
You will help establish a common understanding of data throughout the organisation, while balancing short-term business benefits with sustainable, longer-term solutions.

Responsibilities
Contribute to the improvement of the Data Governance methodology by providing feedback and insights from practical experience.

Ensure that data initiatives generate tangible business value.

Scope of the role
This is an advisory and facilitating role, focused on improving data management practices through collaboration with the business.
You will not be responsible for defining the overall Data Governance methodology, making business decisions on behalf of stakeholders, managing data communities or technical teams, defining solution or technical architecture, or developing and implementing systems.
Instead, you will influence the evolution of data management practices through practical feedback, structured advice, coaching and stakeholder engagement.
