Employment Type: Project-based assignment
Duration: 1 year with the option to extend
About the Role
Are you interested in contributing to the future of the European energy landscape? We are currently looking for a Business Process Manager for one of our clients, a key player in the electricity transmission sector.
As the energy landscape evolves, driven by changing regulations, the integration of European electricity markets and increasing demands on grid operations, our client is looking to strengthen its National Control Center team.
In this role, you will take ownership of end-to-end operational processes, ensuring that changes in market design, system requirements, regulations and digital capabilities are translated into safe, coherent and executable control room processes.
You will act as the link between operational teams, market-related stakeholders and IT product teams, ensuring that operational requirements are considered throughout the design, development, implementation and continuous improvement of digital solutions.
Your Responsibilities
You will contribute to business-critical processes across congestion management, operational planning and real-time grid operations.
Your responsibilities will include:
Operational process management: Own, maintain and continuously improve end-to-end processes, ensuring consistency, safety and operational effectiveness across relevant domains.
Grid security and congestion management: Support processes that assess grid security across year-ahead, day-ahead and intraday time horizons, helping identify preventive and corrective measures to maintain grid stability.
Grid modelling and forecasting: Contribute to processes that model and forecast the state of the electricity grid across different operational time horizons.
Outage planning: Improve planning processes to balance maintenance and outage requests, operational flexibility and security of electricity supply.
Real-time grid operations: Support processes related to grid monitoring, operational coordination, alarm management and the use of SCADA and Energy Management Systems (EMS).
Dynamic grid security: Contribute to integrating Dynamic Security Assessment (DSA) and Wide-Area Monitoring Systems (WAMS) into operational control room processes.
Business and IT alignment: Translate operational needs into clear business requirements and collaborate with IT product teams on solution design, development backlogs and priorities.
Implementation and operational readiness: Coordinate the introduction of new tools and capabilities, including readiness assessments, training, procedure development, go-live and post-implementation support.
Continuous improvement: Analyse operational events, historical data and lessons learned to identify improvement opportunities and support the development of future operational capabilities.
Your Profile
We are looking for a technically minded professional who understands operational processes within the energy sector and can bridge the gap between business stakeholders and IT teams.
Requirements:
A Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or another relevant technical discipline.
Fluency in English and either French or Dutch, both written and spoken.
Experience working with business stakeholders and supporting IT development of digital solutions for operational processes.
Strong analytical skills and the ability to translate complex operational requirements into structured processes and practical solutions.
A structured, data-driven approach, including the ability to analyse data quality issues and identify process improvements.
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with a client-oriented mindset and a conceptual approach to process design.
Experience that would be considered a strong advantage:
Approximately 3–5 years of experience in the energy sector, particularly in roles supporting electricity system operations.
Experience as a System Engineer, Planning Engineer, Business Analyst or in a similar operational or technical position.
Knowledge of electricity power systems gained through academic studies or professional experience.
Experience in congestion management at national or cross-border level, particularly Coordinated Security Analysis (CSA).
