Project Engineer - Civil Works (CW)
The Expert Civil Works (CW) is responsible for the realization and/or verification of structural engineering studies for building structures within the framework of the clients’ projects, in accordance with applicable standards and legislation. You are jointly responsible for drafting guidelines and standards. You contribute to the preparation of civil engineering notes that establish our clients specifications.
The structural studies relate to the following common structures:
- Foundation blocks for AIS (Air Insulated Station) installations, whether or not placed on deep foundations;
- Transformer beds that simultaneously serve as foundations for the transformers and as containment devices in the event of an incident (oil leaks);
- Soundproofing and fireproofing walls;
- Common underground oil containment pits;
- Industrial buildings for the installation of GIS (Gas Insulated Station), relay rooms, medium-voltage cabins, etc., whether or not equipped with storage and sanitary facilities;
- Steel structures such as metal supports for the installation of high-voltage equipment, portals for line terminations and high-voltage connections (e.g., rail portals), and supports for attaching high-voltage and medium-voltage cables;
- Foundations of high-voltage towers, either pad foundations or pile foundations;
- Project-specific structures such as retaining walls, underground substations, cable tunnels.
- You work primarily with internal and external designers/experts and project leaders. You ensure clear calculation notes and verify the coherence between plans and calculations.
- Civil engineer (architect) in civil engineering or industrial engineer with a specialization in civil engineering;
- You have an affinity with the issues of structural calculations and soil mechanics;
- You are preferably bilingual Dutch/French, and a good basic knowledge of English is a plus;
- You are team-oriented, communicative, customer-focused, and able to collaborate with other departments and external parties;
- You have good knowledge of existing standards, including Eurocodes 0 (Basis of structural design), 1 (Actions on structures), 2 (Design and calculation of concrete structures), 3 (Design and calculation of steel structures), and 7 (Geotechnical design);
- You are familiar with the calculation software Scia Engineer and with common Microsoft Office software.
- EU Passport or valid work authorization for Belgium.
