Telecom Engineer
We ARE Renewables is looking for a Telecom Engineer for one of our clients in Arnhem.
As a Telecom Engineer, you are the technical specialist in the field of telecom technology within replacement, expansion, and maintenance projects for high-voltage substations. You are involved throughout the entire project lifecycle: from scope definition, design, and engineering to realization, commissioning, and handover to operations.
Task and Responsibilities
• Acting as the technical specialist and point of contact for telecom technology and telecom installations within high-voltage projects.
• Drafting technical designs, specifications, review documents, and work packages.
• Assessing designs, calculations, drawings, and reports from contractors and engineering firms for quality, safety, and compliance.
• Translating technical standards, Statements of Requirements, guidelines, and design principles into practical and feasible solutions.
• Providing technical guidance during realization, migration, and commissioning activities.
• Monitoring the technical coherence between telecom installations and interfaces with secondary technology, civil structures, and execution.
• Identifying technical risks, deviations, and scope changes, and advising on appropriate solutions.
• Supporting project teams with technical considerations regarding reliability, maintainability, availability, and security
• Actively sharing knowledge within the field and contributing to the further development of telecom engineering within the organization.
• Collaborating with discipline engineers, technical managers, lead engineers, asset specialists, contractors, and suppliers.
Key Requirements
- Completed HBO (higher professional education) degree in Electrical Engineering, Energy Technology, or similar.
- Several years of relevant work experience as an engineer within telecom or similar technical infrastructure.
- Experience with project-based work within a technical environment.
- Experience within brownfield projects and/or grid management environments is a plus.
- Knowledge of telecom technologies such as fiber optic connections, telecom connections, signals, protocols, interfaces, and cabling.
- Experience with or knowledge of telecom networks such as PDH, SDH, WDM, and IP/MPLS is a strong plus.
- Able to independently review technical designs, drawings, and calculations.
- Practical affinity with execution and installations alongside theoretical knowledge.
- Affinity with Systems Engineering, verification & validation, and standardization.
- Experience in a reviewing and coordinating role within engineering projects.
- Experience with UAV(-GC), contract management, or system-oriented contract control is a plus.
- Professional command of the Dutch and English languages, both spoken and written.
- In possession of a B driver's license
- Willingness to visit project locations within Flevoland, Gelderland, and Utrecht.
- Safety is always the number one priority.
