Project Safety Coordinator
The Project Safety Coordinator is responsible for coordinating safety during the design and execution of high-voltage infrastructure projects, including risk assessments, safety and health plans, site inspections, contractor coordination, audits, and incident investigations. The role also advises project teams on occupational and electrical safety, ensures compliance with legislation and internal safety standards, and supports the safe commissioning and maintenance of high-voltage installations.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate safety during the design and execution phases of infrastructure projects.
- Conduct and approve risk assessments and identify preventive/protective measures.
- Develop, maintain, and approve Safety & Health Plans.
- Assess contractors’ safety documentation, work methods, and preventive measures.
- Participate in site meetings, inspections, audits, and safety coordination.
- Monitor compliance with safety legislation and internal procedures.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses.
- Maintain the coordination logbook and post-intervention dossier.
- Advise project teams on occupational, operational, and electrical safety.
- Inspect installations before commissioning and provide safety recommendations.
- Coordinate with contractors, project teams, and external safety coordinators.
- Valid Level A Safety Coordinator certificate under Belgian legislation.
- Level 1 Prevention Advisor certification is an advantage.
- Industrial or civil engineering degree in electromechanics, or equivalent experience.
- Around 5 years of experience with projects, construction sites, and/or safety prevention in industrial environments.
- Experience with high-voltage electrical installations is highly desirable.
- Structured, independent, accurate, and detail-oriented.
- Assertive communicator with strong influencing and coordination skills.
- Professional liability insurance as a Safety Coordinator.
- Driving licence B + own vehicle.
- Fluent in Dutch, French, and English
