Contract Manager Water systems
For our client, we are looking for an experienced Water Systems Contract Manager for several larger and complex projects within the Projects department.
The assignment focuses on the contract management of multiple projects within the water chain. This includes the construction and renovation of water treatment plants, drinking water production sites, pumping stations, pumping stations, dike improvements, and water infrastructure plans within client’s service area.
The assignment
The role of Contract Manager is varied and broad. Within larger and complex projects, you are responsible for determining procurement needs for services and works and, in collaboration with the Purchasing department, developing contract strategies and procurement plans. Additionally, you are responsible for contract preparation, tendering, and contract control, managing time, budget, quality, and risk.
Work within multiple projects is carried out according to the Integrated Project Management (IPM) model. This involves the use of various contract forms, including UAV-GC, UAV, and RAW. Work is also done using Building Information Management (BIM).
You are responsible for contract management throughout multiple project phases, from the definition phase up to and including the handover to the management organization. On behalf of the client, you maintain contact with external consultancy firms, engineering firms, contractors, and other construction partners. Additionally, you conduct negotiations with market parties regarding estimates, indexations, claims, Requests for Amendments (RSIs), variations and additional work, and the market conformity of the unit prices used.
During execution, you monitor contract progress, report on contract performance, and proactively address contractual bottlenecks. You coordinate with internal stakeholders, contractors, and engineering firms, and ensure that decisions are carefully documented. Additionally, you contribute to improving and securing working methods, ensuring that not only current issues are resolved but also structural improvements are realized.
Requested expertise
- Higher professional education (HBO) working and thinking level, supplemented by professional training in the field of contract management;
- At least 10 years of experience as a contract manager within projects in civil engineering, infrastructure, or construction;
- Demonstrable experience with RAW contracts in the execution phase;
- Experience with UAV contracts;
- Experience with framework agreements with engineering firms;
- An excellent command of the Dutch language, both spoken and written.
- Experience with agreements to which the DNR and/or RVOI apply;
- Experience within a political-administrative organization, preferably a water board, municipality, province, or the national government;
- A completed basic training course in contract management, such as Conducto.
For the successful execution of the assignment, you possess strong collaboration and negotiation skills and are able to reconcile various interests. You communicate clearly, are analytically strong, result-oriented, and environmentally aware. You distinguish between main and minor issues, oversee contractual risks, and know how to translate these into pragmatic and workable solutions.
