We ARE Renewables is looking for a Next Gen Java Developer for one of our clients in the energy sector.
Task and Responsibilities
As a Developer, you are invaluable to our team. In this phase, in addition to design work, there is a particular need for writing and debugging code to deliver the right value. You are responsible for ensuring high code quality by following best practices, running unit tests, and developing automated tests. Additionally, you strive to improve performance and stability by identifying and resolving technical issues and bugs in the software. Within your team, you collaborate to further develop other aspects, such as UX and security. Finally, you recognize the importance of technical documentation of the solution as a deliverable to ensure your work meets the appropriate quality standards.
Key Requirements
  • You have professional experience with Java, having worked with Spring, Spring Boot, JMS, Hibernate, Kafka, SQL, Web services (SOAP/REST), PKI (certificates), and AMQP.
  • Experience with CI/CD, unit testing, and test automation. We work with the following tools: Gradle, Tomcat, GitHub, JUnit, Cucumber, Selenium, MirrorMaker, Sonarqube, Jira, Docker, Playwright, Dash0, AWS, and Kubernetes (EKS).
  • Experience with front-end software development is a plus, providing knowledge of Angular JavaScript, jQuery, HTML5, and CSS3.
  • You have knowledge of networks and experience with Active Directory.
  • You have some knowledge of databases, for example PostgreSQL, Mongo.
  • You have experience with identity and access tooling such as KeyCloak and EntraID.
  • You have experience with Agile and Scrum methodologies.
  • You speak excellent Dutch and English.
  • You feel comfortable working together with your team to put your shoulders to the wheel and contribute to the new generation of smart meters.

Location: Utrecht + Hybrid
Duration: July 2026 – December 2026 (Extension is possible)
