About the Role

For a leading organization operating within a vital public infrastructure sector, we are seeking an experienced Senior Spokesperson to strengthen the Corporate Communications team on an interim basis. This is a strategic communication role in a dynamic environment where societal impact, stakeholder engagement, and public trust are central themes.

The successful candidate will play a key role in safeguarding and strengthening the organization’s reputation while supporting major strategic initiatives and projects. Acting as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, the spokesperson will manage media relations, guide communication strategies, and contribute to the organization's public positioning during a period of significant change and development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as one of the primary points of contact for journalists, media outlets, and external stakeholders.
  • Develop and execute media and reputation management strategies that support organizational objectives.
  • Provide strategic communication advice to senior management, executives, and internal stakeholders.
  • Monitor external developments, public sentiment, and media trends to proactively identify opportunities and risks.
  • Prepare and coordinate press releases, media statements, interviews, and public announcements.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with national, regional, and sector-specific media contacts.
  • Identify opportunities to increase positive visibility and strengthen the organization’s public profile.
  • Manage complex and sensitive communication issues, including crisis and incident communications.
  • Collaborate closely with communication advisors, content specialists, social media teams, public affairs professionals, and operational departments.
  • Support regional and national projects involving external stakeholders, government bodies, and community representatives.
  • Translate complex technical or operational topics into clear and accessible messaging for various audiences.

Candidate Profile

We are looking for a communication professional who combines strategic insight with strong execution capabilities and is comfortable operating in a highly visible and politically sensitive environment.

Requirements

  • Completed HBO degree or equivalent qualification in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in spokespersonship, corporate communications, or media relations.
  • Demonstrated experience advising senior management and executives on communication and reputation-related matters.
  • Experience working within large, complex organizations and administrative or public-sector environments.
  • Proven track record in media engagement, reputation management, and stakeholder communications.
  • Strong understanding of traditional media, digital communication channels, and social media dynamics.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in Dutch.
