Role: Category Manager

Department Description and responsibilities 

As a Category Manager Auxiliary Equipment at the corporate procurement you will develop and implement category strategies that contribute to cost efficiency, service quality, and sustainability, in line with the Client's broader procurement objectives. You will collaborate with internal stakeholders and project teams worldwide to achieve the best solutions and promote best practices within the organization. You will report to the Lead Category Manager "Shipyards, Machinery Equipment" and lead a team of Category buyers and Operational buyers.

Primary Tasks and responsibilities
  • Develop and execute a category strategy to optimize cost, quality, and efficiency
  • Manage relationships with internal stakeholders;
  • Guide and lead a team of Category Buyers and Operational buyers to execute procurement activities in accordance to agreed service levels;
  • Get directly involved in high value / critical spot buys and framework agreements;
  • Manage performance of category team reporting and tracking KPI’s;
  • Conduct market research (knowledge of suppliers, state-of-the-art technology, etc.)
  • Develop and sustain supplier relationships with key suppliers
  • Ensure compliance with sourcing procedures and contract management;
  • Monitor market trends and identify opportunities for process improvements, cost reductions, and innovation.

Technical profile requirements
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in strategic purchasing, category management or logistics management
  • Experience in the maritime and/or civil infrastructure company is a plus
  • Proven experience in coaching and leading a team;
  • Strong commercial and negotiation skills with the ability to manage high-value contracts.
Non-Technical profile requirements
  • Fluent in English; Dutch language is a plus;
  • A strategic mindset, hands-on approach, and the ability to drive change;
  • Experience in supplier relationship management, contract negotiation, and procurement best practices;
  • A results-oriented team player with excellent stakeholder management and problem-solving skills;
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic, international environment.

Methodology/Certification requirements
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in engineering, Business Administration, Applied Economics, or Supply Chain Management;
