Business Architect – Customers, Markets & Systems (CMS)

Your Role

As a Business Architect within the Customers, Markets & Systems (CMS) domain, you will play a key role in aligning business strategy with operational execution.

You will act as a bridge between high-level strategic objectives and practical implementation, ensuring that business processes, data, and systems are structured in a coherent and efficient way. Your work will directly support critical areas such as customer relations, market design, system operations, and grid development.

You will be part of a central Strategy Implementation & Transformation function, working closely with business analysts, portfolio managers, and program managers to drive transformation initiatives.


Key Responsibilities

Business Architecture & Strategy

  • Define and shape the target Business Architecture in line with departmental strategy and vision
  • Develop and maintain Business Capability Maps to support strategic objectives
  • Support capability-driven decision-making through tools such as capability heatmaps

Information & Data Architecture

  • Contribute to the implementation of the organization’s Information Strategy within the CMS domain
  • Identify and define Data Domains and assign Data Ownership
  • Develop conceptual business information models using standard architecture toolkits
  • Determine required business capabilities to support the target Information Architecture

Transformation & Innovation

  • Support the introduction and integration of AI within business architecture practices
  • Identify and define business products and data products
  • Lead or contribute to initiatives defining Business Architecture blueprints in collaboration with Domain and Solution Architects

Stakeholder Management & Alignment

  • Ensure alignment between business architecture, IT architecture, and roadmaps
  • Collaborate across multiple departments to ensure consistency and integration
  • Engage stakeholders at all levels to support decision-making and transformation initiatives

Governance & Continuous Improvement

  • Contribute to the evolution of architecture methodologies, frameworks, tools, and training
  • Participate in governance forums and ensure proper implementation of architecture practices
  • Stay up to date with industry trends and emerging technologies

Your Profile

You are a strategic thinker with a strong ability to translate complex business needs into structured, scalable solutions. You thrive in cross-functional environments and are comfortable working at the intersection of business and technology.

Experience & Background

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in Business and Information Architecture
  • Master’s degree in engineering, scientific discipline, or similar
  • Experience within the Energy & Utilities sector is a strong advantage

Technical & Functional Expertise

  • Strong knowledge of Business Architecture frameworks and methodologies
  • Solid understanding of Domain-Driven Design (DDD)
  • Experience with software integration patterns and modern data architectures (Data Warehouses, Data Lakes, Data Mesh)
  • Familiarity with AI-driven solutions and implementations
  • Proficiency in modeling tools and standards such as UML, BPMN, and ArchiMate
