Senior Identity Access Management (IAM) Platform Engineer

We are looking for a Senior IAM Platform Engineer.

The IAM team is responsible for the organisation’s IAM platforms and services, including SailPoint, Microsoft Entra ID, BeyondTrust, and related identity and access capabilities. Within the team, the Senior IAM Platform Engineer represents the technical realisation and engineering focus.

This role works closely with the Senior IAM Consultant (IGA), who defines the functional standards, governance models, and direction for IAM and IGA. The Senior IAM Platform Engineer is responsible for translating this functional guidance into robust technical implementations, platform improvements, and reliable IAM services.

This role follows an automation-first approach: standardisation where possible, automation by default, and manual work only where unavoidable. The role is hands-on and acts as a technical point of reference within the IAM team.
Role focus and way of working
The role combines engineering and operational responsibilities, with an indicative balance of:
~70% engineering, automation, and platform development
~30% operational support and optimisation
The exact balance may vary depending on project phases and platform maturity.

Responsibilities
  • Implement, configure, and continuously improve IAM and IGA platform capabilities, applying an automation-first and standardised approach.
  • Design, implement, and optimise SailPoint workflows, including Joiner / Mover / Leaver (JML), access governance, certifications, and remediation, with automation as the default.
  • Perform and support application onboarding onto IAM and IGA platforms, including integration, provisioning, and access model implementation.
  • Review and implement IAM and IGA patterns and standards defined by the Senior IAM Consultant (IGA), ensuring they are technically scalable and automatable.
  • Configure and maintain IAM integrations with Microsoft Entra ID, directories, and downstream enterprise and SaaS applications.
  • Implement and maintain non-human identity use cases, including service accounts, application identities, APIs, and automation accounts.
  • Develop and maintain automation and scripting solutions to support IAM workflows, integrations, and operational tasks.
  • Proactively identify manual IAM activities and replace them with standardised and automated solutions.
  • Act as a technical subject-matter expert and point of reference within the IAM team.
  • Support incident analysis and problem resolution related to IAM platforms and identity services.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement, stability, scalability, and operational efficiency of the IAM platform landscape.
  • Ensure technical documentation, configurations, and operational procedures are accurate and up to date.

Role boundaries
  • Functional IAM standards, policies, and governance are defined by the Senior IAM Consultant (IGA).
  • This role owns the technical implementation, automation, and operation of those standards within the IAM platforms.
  • This role is not a SOC or security operations role, but operates with strong security awareness as part of IAM engineering.

Requirements:
  • Senior-level experience in IAM engineering within complex enterprise environments.
  • Hands-on experience with IGA platforms, preferably SailPoint IdentityNow / Identity Security Cloud.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Entra ID and directory services.
  • Experience implementing: Identity lifecycle workflows (JML)
  • Access governance and certifications
  • Application onboarding and provisioning
  • Experience with non-human identities, service accounts, and application identities.
  • Familiarity with privileged access management solutions (e.g. BeyondTrust).
  • Experience applying automation and scripting in an IAM context (e.g. workflows, APIs, PowerShell), with a focus on standardisation, reliability, and reduction of manual effort.
  • Ability to work independently and act as a technical reference within the IAM team.
  • Strong documentation skills.
  • Fluent in English (Dutch preferred).
