Senior Observability Engineer

You will work within the monitoring team of Infrastructure, Integration & Cloud (IIC). This team manages generic databases, middleware platforms and monitoring systems, and focuses strongly on self-service and automation.
You will work with the Elastic Stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana), Prometheus and Grafana to implement and manage observability solutions. You will also support the transition to a stable and scalable monitoring platform and contribute to the technical onboarding of teams.


Tasks and responsibilities:
  • You are responsible for the Kubernetes platform and the underlying architecture;
  • You can share your expertise with the juniors, so that the team level can be raised to a higher level;
  • Implementing and managing observability tools, such as Elastic Stack, Prometheus and Grafana;
  • Developing standard observability building blocks for application management;
  • Analyzing infrastructure and identifying monitoring elements;
  • Performing incident management and troubleshooting;
  • Developing, implementing and testing new and existing functionalities;
  • Automating processes via Python scripts, HELM charts, Ansible playbooks and Go programs;
  • Managing the monitoring environment, including upgrades, patches and stability.

Profile:
  • You have at least 5 years of experience as an observability engineer;
  • You have at least 5 years of demonstrable experience with Elastic Stack, preferably Elastic Cloud on Kubernetes;
  • You have at least 5 years of experience with observability in Kubernetes clusters and the architecture of the Kubernetes platform;
  • You can share your expertise with the juniors, so that the team level can be raised to a higher level;
  • You have knowledge of and experience with:
  • Distributed data systems such as Elasticsearch and Kafka;
  • CI/CD workflows (Jenkins, ArgoCD);
  • Programming languages ​​such as Go and Python;
  • Automatisering en Infrastructure-as-Code (Ansible, Bitbucket, Jenkins);
  • Linux server environments;
  • You have experience with DevOps and working in scrum teams;
  • You are willing to work on-call periodically (at least once every 5 weeks).
